The Mondrian reference speaks to the graphic of rectangles beside and within other rectangles-like the artist's paintings. While most open nightstands look better with something in them, the Ivory leather used here lends itself to a more minimal look. For the right item and the right situation, this can be a dramatic display piece. The case is quarter cut mahogany for a crisply lineal effect. A double frame-with the inner one channeled-creates multiple levels and a sense of couture design. The drawer pull is flush, custom cast brass, and stippled. The box floats over a metal base.
